Generac meets rapid growth with global supply chain visibility

Generac Power Systems, the #1 manufacturer of home backup generators, faced rapid post‑IPO growth and multiple acquisitions that strained its global supply chain and transportation management. To gain better visibility and control across trucking, ocean, air and customs, Generac turned to C.H. Robinson and its TMC division, adopting C.H. Robinson’s Navisphere platform alongside their new SAP ERP to standardize operations and improve shipment transparency.

C.H. Robinson implemented a comprehensive global solution—integrating SAP with Navisphere, automating processes through TMC, and consolidating ocean and inland legs via C.H. Robinson‑managed warehouses and 53' intermodal moves—to optimize modes and provide near real‑time visibility. The results: inbound international expenses fell 9%, containerized freight expenses dropped 14%, inland containerized moves from LA/Long Beach to Whitewater, WI were reduced by 33%, pricing increases were neutralized despite a Fuel Surcharge change, and Generac realized a multimillion‑dollar reduction in global freight spend.
