Star Garment Advances Manufacturing Productivity and Efficiency

Star Garment Group, a Sri Lanka-based apparel manufacturer and member of the Komar family, was producing more than 1.2M pieces monthly across 14 plants but lacked real-time visibility into its shop floor. Management received production data with a day’s delay, decisions were made informally on the line, and the company could not quantify off-standard time or quickly address bottlenecks — so Star invested in CGS BlueCherry® Shop Floor Control (SFC) to digitalize its factory floors.

CGS implemented BlueCherry SFC with real-time displays and handheld access, integrating GSD standard values and operator skill data to enable proactive line balancing, rapid machine-downtime response, and traceability for quality issues. As a result of CGS’s solution, Star eliminated 90% of off-standard time, achieved double-digit productivity gains, reduced costs through faster problem resolution, and now monitors order status and operator performance in real time.
