Case Study: McDonald's achieves rapid restoration of global training video playback and $400K+ savings with CGS automated solution

A CGS Case Study

Preview of the McDonald's Case Study

CGS designed, developed, implemented and tested custom-built automation software and processes

McDonald's Global Learning & Development, part of McDonald's Restaurants, trains over 200,000 employees worldwide and manages a catalogue of 4,000+ e‑learning documents that use a custom interactive “widget” to play videos. After recent browser updates broke the widget and prevented videos from playing across the global content repository, McDonald's faced widespread training disruption and engaged long‑time partner CGS to resolve the issue.

CGS built and deployed a custom automation solution—combining bespoke software programming and robotic process automation (RPA)—to scan, identify and repair the faulty widget code across McDonald's library. CGS scanned 4,000 documents and restored training in two weeks, reducing the effort from an estimated 120 days to 14 days, delivering the fix at about one‑tenth the projected cost and saving McDonald's hundreds of thousands of dollars (reported $400k+).
