Architecture Firm Strengthens Project Management With Integrated Solution

EwingCole, a U.S. architecture, engineering, and design firm with over 300 employees, needed a modern project accounting and management system after support for its Deltek Sema4 software was discontinued. The firm selected Microsoft Dynamics AX (integrated with Office SharePoint Server 2007) and engaged CGS to implement and tailor the solution to EwingCole’s project-based workflows.

CGS configured Microsoft Dynamics AX and built a SharePoint-based Project Wizard portal that automated workflows, enabled self-service timesheets and expense reporting, pushed real-time project accounting and alerts to managers, and eliminated duplicate data entry. As a result EwingCole gained greater control over cash flow and project costs, cut the time to create a project budget to one‑tenth of the previous time, reduced accounting’s ad-hoc reporting load (about four hours saved per week), and improved project performance tracking and billing flexibility.
