Trumbull Crossing Apartments, a 245-unit income-based subsidized apartment and townhouse community in Detroit, Michigan, wanted to reduce operating and maintenance costs while improving security across the property. They partnered with CGE Energy to find a more efficient lighting solution for the complex.

CGE Energy implemented a comprehensive lighting retrofit, upgrading exterior fixtures to LED pole lights and wall packs, converting interior T12 lighting to electronic ballast T8 lamps, adding reflectors and sensors where appropriate, and replacing incandescent exit signs and stairwell fixtures with LEDs. As a result, Trumbull Crossing Apartments reduced energy usage by 75%, is projected to save $166,139 over 10 years, and will see an average monthly energy savings of $1,208 with a 41-month return on investment.
