State of Michigan Capitol Complex - Customer Case Study

The State of Michigan Capitol Complex partnered with CGE Energy to improve the efficiency of its aging lighting systems across eight government buildings. Faced with high energy use in facilities built between the 1950s and 1980s, the state needed a way to reduce operating costs and better manage taxpayer-funded resources.

CGE Energy retrofitted 34,619 fixtures with electronic ballasted T8 fluorescent lamps, added reflectors in some areas, and installed new LED exit signs. The project cut energy use by 62%, delivered an average 25-month ROI, and generated about $34,513 in monthly energy savings, with an estimated $4.75 million in savings over 10 years.
