A CGE Energy Case Study
Madonna University, a large Catholic university in Livonia, Michigan, wanted to improve campus safety and support its sustainability goals. The university faced security concerns from inadequate lighting along exterior walkways, parking areas, and building-mounted fixtures, and also wanted to make interior hallways and the library more inviting. It turned to CGE Energy and its CGE Sustain program for an energy-saving lighting upgrade.
CGE Energy redesigned the campus lighting with energy-efficient LED fixtures and included ongoing maintenance and servicing under a no-upfront-cost, turn-key program. The upgrade reduced prior energy use by over 69% and generated $238,635 in positive cash flow over 10 years. The project also saved 3.9 million kWh of energy, preserved 2,700 acres of forest, and reduced carbon emissions by 5.9 million pounds.
