Garden City Downtown Development Authority - Customer Case Study

Garden City Downtown Development Authority (DDA) needed to upgrade its downtown street lighting because the existing lens covers had been discontinued, creating ongoing maintenance problems and frequent outages. CGE Energy helped the DDA address the issue through its Sustain program, which was intended to improve lighting and support downtown revitalization without requiring an upfront capital investment.

Using CGE Energy’s Sustain solution, the DDA upgraded streetlights along Ford Road and Middlebelt Road to energy-efficient LED lighting and received custom-designed replacement lenses, with all ongoing maintenance and repairs included. The project reduced energy use by more than 50%, saved 448 thousand kWh, and produced a 10-year profitability gain of $20,218, while also cutting CO2 emissions and eliminating the need for a new bond or upfront cost.
