A CGE Energy Case Study
Farm Bureau Insurance, a Michigan insurer founded in 1949, needed highly reliable power for its 170,000-square-foot Lansing headquarters, which serves as the company’s data center for the state. To address its energy and resilience goals, Farm Bureau Insurance worked with CGE Energy using the CGE Sustain program.
CGE Energy implemented a comprehensive energy initiative that included a large-scale combined heat and power natural gas generator, two solar PV systems, thousands of LED lighting fixtures, energy-efficient boilers, hot water systems, and building controls. With $0 upfront cost, Farm Bureau Insurance expects to save more than $1.6 million over 20 years, while also cutting 80 million kWh of energy use, removing 120 million pounds of CO2, and planting the equivalent of 56,000 acres of trees.
