Locaweb, a large Brazilian hosting and infrastructure services provider, needed a way to keep pace with rapid growth across a highly heterogeneous environment of more than 30,000 servers. With a mix of Windows and Linux systems running on physical and virtual platforms, the company struggled to automate infrastructure lifecycle tasks, speed up service delivery, maintain consistency at scale, and integrate with existing operational tools and processes.

Locaweb chose CFEngine to automate infrastructure configuration and lifecycle management across its full stack, from bare metal and OS setup to middleware and customer applications. With CFEngine, Locaweb reduced email cluster provisioning from 2–3 weeks to under 20 minutes, automated patching across thousands of systems within minutes, and cut the email operations team from 22 people to 4. The result was faster provisioning, stronger visibility, improved troubleshooting, and more consistent, hands-free operations across the environment.
