GPS technology leader loses paper, hones in on expense automation

Garmin, a global leader in GPS navigation and wearable technology with 11,500 employees, was hampered by outdated spreadsheets and a paper-based expense process that left accounts payable mired in administrative work and employees facing slow reimbursements. Seeking a simpler, faster solution, Garmin implemented Certify in 2014 to address cumbersome reporting, manual data entry and reimbursement delays.

By automating workflows, integrating Certify with Garmin’s ERP, adding ACH direct deposit and enabling Certify Mobile for travelers, Garmin gained better visibility, faster approvals and quick duplicate detection. Today more than 2,300 users submit reports via Certify, the AP team saves about one full day of administrative work weekly, 2–5 duplicate expenses are identified each month, and reimbursements are timelier with fewer uncashed checks.
