A Certero Case Study
Metropolitan Borough Council, the local authority for a Yorkshire borough of over 250,000 residents, needed to move away from an outsourcing contract in 2011 and accurately quantify a complex IT estate of roughly 4,000 largely laptop-using staff across multiple sites. To address the council’s requirement for both IT Asset Management (ITAM) and Software Asset Management (SAM), the council evaluated several vendors and selected Certero, deploying Certero for Enterprise SAM.
Certero implemented Certero for Enterprise SAM as a proof of concept and full rollout in 2012, with the platform up and running within a day; its discovery, inventory and GUI-driven tools delivered rapid ROI and an accurate Effective License Position. As a result (per the council) Certero enabled remote, faster data collection and centralized software deployment, reduced IT staff time, supported the move from outsourced to in-house management, and lowered the time and cost impact of vendor audits by reducing unnecessary license purchases and penalties.
