Medtronic Demonstrating the economic value of minimally invasive spinal surgery on the iPad

Medtronic, a global leader in medical technology, needed a way to clearly demonstrate the economic value of its minimally invasive spinal surgery to both internal and external stakeholders. Their challenge was to present complex health economic data in an intuitive and credible format that was easily understandable for non-experts. They partnered with vendor Certara and used its BaseCase platform to address this communication gap.

Certara implemented a web-based value communication app using BaseCase. The solution integrated cost inputs and economic models into a visual, interactive presentation that could be modified during customer meetings. The app successfully captured customer attention, encouraged active discussion, and made the value proposition easy to understand. Internally, it helped increase awareness of the product's economic value. The solution was initially launched in the UK and Italy, meeting its objectives to visualize key messages effectively.
