Fonterra, a global, co-operatively owned dairy exporter with 11,500 employees, faced a challenge managing and analyzing paper-based safety and performance observations (each employee must complete four observations per year). To move away from handwritten notes that made it hard to spot trends and prioritize fixes, Fonterra engaged Certainty Software and its Checkit inspection software to modernize how observations are recorded and reviewed.

Certainty Software implemented Checkit on mobile devices for behavioural-based safety observations, now used by more than 3,000 Fonterra employees and contractors in the field. Checkit’s reporting groups recurring issues, improves compliance with observation targets, and helps Fonterra prioritize training, budget for repairs, and target procedural changes—giving faster, clearer insight into workforce safety and performance and enabling plans for broader tablet deployment, ERP integration, and multi-language use.
