IEEE, the world's largest professional association for the advancement of technology, needed to attract a broader audience and generate more revenue from its 1,300+ annual events. The organization's Meetings and Conferences group faced challenges with previous virtual event technologies and sought a new solution to enhance the attendee experience without adding complexity. They engaged with vendor Certain to trial their Certain Virtual product.

Certain implemented a successful hybrid virtual event trial for the IEEE Broadcast Technology Society Symposium. The solution enabled global virtual attendance, introduced new pricing models for increased revenue, and provided interactive tools that accelerated attendee engagement. As a result, IEEE was able to reach members on new continents for the first time, gather real-time feedback, and create a new, year-long revenue stream from recorded content. The trial's success led to plans for future hybrid events.
