Rijk Zwaan, a Netherlands-based global leader in vegetable breeding with over 1,200 employees, needed a centralized project management solution. Its IT department was hampered by disparate tools and poor visibility into how delays or issues in one area affected overall projects and resources.

They implemented Genius Project on their existing Lotus Notes platform (rolled out Oct–Dec 2007) to centralize project requests, planning, time reporting and resource management in a single database. Using Genius Planner, standardized timesheet templates and customizable project/workflow templates, Rijk Zwaan gained better project visibility and collaboration, full timesheet adoption, more realistic resource planning through a centralized pool, faster reporting and consistency in processes — with plans to evaluate wider rollout to other departments.
