Fédération des Entreprises Romandes Genève (FER GE) is a Geneva-based federation of employers’ associations, member associations and self‑employed professionals that provides services like pension participation, staff programs and legal support. Facing a 2003–2004 push to migrate AS/400 terminal applications to web-based J2EE/WebSphere systems, FER GE’s 10 developers and 10 consultants were hampered by fragmented tools (Excel timesheets, Microsoft Project plans, Rational documents) and needed an enterprise-wide solution to centralize project data, resources, budgets and task visibility while integrating with existing planning tools.

In 2004 FER GE deployed Genius Project to centralize planning, budgeting, timesheets, task assignments and document management, with integration to Microsoft Project. The system automated milestones and percent-complete metrics, provided up-to-the-minute task and budget visibility via the web, and allowed team members to log time directly into project plans. As a result FER GE achieved accurate day-by-day tracking of time and costs, improved collaboration across internal and external teams, and consolidated reporting for senior management.
