A Ceros Case Study
Sinclair Holdings LLC, led by CEO Farukh Aslam, transformed the 16‑story, 1929 Sinclair Building in Fort Worth into a 164‑room Marriott Autograph hotel while tackling the twin challenges of preserving a historic landmark and bringing it into the digital, energy‑efficient age. The team faced lengthy historic approvals, an inefficient existing structure, and the unprecedented task of integrating disparate building systems and pioneering Power‑over‑Ethernet (PoE) at scale across a retrofit.
They replaced traditional AC wiring with a DC‑powered, PoE network using Superior Essex cable and VoltServer distribution and partnered with Cisco, Legrand and others to connect thousands of smart devices (supported by over 286,000 ft of cable). The result is the world’s first DC‑powered/PoE‑enabled hotel: a Sustainable Intelligent Building delivering roughly 30–35% estimated energy savings, advanced guest personalization and monitoring, faster/cheaper installs, a lithium‑ion backup in lieu of diesel, and a scalable proof‑of‑concept for future projects.
