A Cerner Case Study
CoxHealth, a 950-bed integrated health network in southwest Missouri, faced frequent network outages and slow performance that disrupted electronic health records and forced clinicians to revert to paper and downtime procedures, compromising patient care. Leaders determined that upgrading the network was essential to keep bedside care seamless and reliable across their regional hospitals and emergency departments.
In April 2014 CoxHealth partnered with Cerner ITWorks to implement Network Assurance, standardize equipment, and add proactive monitoring and management. Since then they’ve experienced zero network outages, a 95% reduction in some radiology image load times (from about 40 seconds to ~2 seconds), improved clinician satisfaction and workflow efficiency, and stronger capacity to secure and plan for growing connected-device needs.
