St. John’s Health cuts immunization reporting delays with Cerner, importing 2,730 reports

St. John’s Health, a health system in Wyoming, faced challenges tracking patient immunizations as clinicians spent significant manual effort logging vaccine data separately into the state registry and their EHR. To address this inefficiency, they utilized Cerner’s Immunization Registry Reporting and Query service.

Cerner implemented a bidirectional interface that automatically sends vaccine data from the EHR to the Wyoming Immunization Registry and allows clinicians to query and import patient records. This solution saved clinicians several minutes per patient and hours per week by eliminating duplicate data entry. During the COVID-19 rollout, this allowed St. John’s Health to report thousands of doses instantly, administering around 10,000 initial doses efficiently and ensuring timely state reporting.
