A Cerner Case Study
Nash Health Care partnered with Cerner to tackle inefficient mobile communication and alarm management that slowed workflows, contributed to alarm fatigue, and hurt staff satisfaction—most notably prolonging bed-assignment times in the emergency department. Leadership sought a technology-driven solution to improve response times, nurse experience, and overall patient care.
They deployed CareAware Connect, which reduced bed-assignment time by 27 minutes (an estimated $1.5M in potential revenue), raised registered nurses’ technology satisfaction by 62%, and earned ANCC recognition and inclusion in The Joint Commission’s Leading Practice Library. Expansion to Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation produced further gains: a 60% improvement in nurses’ ability to respond quickly to alarms, an 85% improvement in alarm fatigue for patient care techs and nursing assistants, a 58% boost in perceived patient-care delivery, and modest improvements in patient-survey scores.
