Case Study: Lafayette General Health achieves 65-second time savings per patient and expanded access to care with Cerner adoption coaches and analytics

A Cerner Case Study

Preview of the Lafayette General Health Case Study

Lafayette General Health saves 65 seconds per patient visit using adoption coaches, data analytics

Lafayette General Health (LGH), which operates 41 ambulatory clinics across central Louisiana, faced clinician workflow inefficiencies that left some physicians working late into the evening to finish electronic documentation. LGH needed a way to streamline EHR use so providers could spend more time with patients and reduce after-hours work.

LGH partnered with Cerner for a six-week optimization project in which adoption coaches worked one-on-one with physicians to teach Workflow mPage, Dynamic Documentation, auto text, Dragon dictation, quick orders and other efficiency features, using Cerner Advance and LightsOn Analytics to pinpoint time-consuming tasks. The effort saved an average of 65 seconds per patient, enabling providers to see more patients daily, reducing after-hours documentation, improving access to care for the community and creating an opportunity for about $10 million in additional annual revenue.
