A Cerner Case Study
King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH&RC) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, operates two hospitals with more than 1,300 beds serving nearly 70 nationalities and set out to fully digitalize care, improve clinician workflows and patient engagement, and achieve the highest ambulatory health‑IT maturity.
KFSH&RC implemented Cerner Millennium EHR with added quality reporting, voice recognition, and its Sehaty patient portal, plus physician‑optimization projects and automated clinical workflows. The program made KFSH&RC the first in the Middle East—and the first outside North America—to earn HIMSS Stage 7 Ambulatory, increased physician‑documented problems from 547 to 28,791 (2014–2015), improved blood‑pressure control, generated about SAR 10,000/month in documented savings, and has progressed into a fourth phase including capacity management, evidence‑based order sets and Smart Room connectivity.
