A Cerner Case Study
Hospital Universitari Son Espases (HUSE), an 816‑bed hospital in Mallorca, identified in late 2016 that vital signs, labs, medications, allergies, reports and orders were dispersed across the electronic health record and that PowerForms documentation was inefficient, forcing clinicians to spend extra time retrieving and reviewing patient information.
From January to November 2017 HUSE partnered with Cerner on the “DynDoc Project,” implementing MPages® and Dynamic Documentation™ in four phased rollouts with position‑based templates, training and workflow changes. The changes centralized EHR data and improved documentation: signed documents rose from nearly 2,000 in May to more than 7,000 in October, outpatient encounters with recorded diagnoses increased from 1% to 24%, and average clinician documentation time per patient fell by about 25% (from 21:53 to 16:10), allowing clinicians to focus more on patients.
