A Cerner Case Study
Fisher Titus Medical Center, a healthcare provider, faced the challenge of rapidly implementing a robust telehealth solution at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Their initial stopgap system was clunky, prompting them to seek a long-term, streamlined virtual visit solution in partnership with their EHR vendor, Cerner, and the telehealth service Amwell.
Cerner, in collaboration with Amwell, implemented an integrated solution that launched virtual visits directly within the Cerner Millennium EHR. This eliminated the need for a dual-scheduling process and allowed providers to view patients and their charts simultaneously on a single screen. The results were significant, providing staff with greater flexibility and streamlining workflows. The hospital had already conducted over 2,500 virtual visits in a single month with its initial system, and this new solution from Cerner established a strong foundation for telehealth as a permanent, mainstream piece of their care delivery.
