A Cerner Case Study

Preview of the Carroll County Memorial Hospital Case Study

Critical access hospital sees above 100 percent improvement in cash collections, decrease in A/R days

Carroll County Memorial Hospital is a critical access hospital in Carrollton, Missouri, that faced tight rural budgets where every dollar matters. To address mounting financial pressures and improve revenue performance, CCMH began working with Cerner RevWorks in 2013 to strengthen revenue cycle operations and meet tighter organizational financial metrics.

By transitioning patient access, health information, case management, patient financial services and accounting functions to Cerner RevWorks associates, CCMH streamlined workflows and focused on key performance indicators. Measured from 2012 (pre-implementation) to 2017, the hospital and ambulatory facilities saw gross revenue rise 132%, cash collections increase 165%, and A/R days fall by 42%; CCMH has renewed the RevWorks partnership and plans to continue working with Cerner.
