A Cerner Case Study
The City of Lenexa, Kansas, a municipal employer with about 650 staff (450 full-time), partnered with Cerner in 2014 to revamp its workplace health program after identifying top employee health risks—obesity, high cholesterol and high blood pressure—and to improve retention and overall workforce wellbeing.
Lenexa launched the Cerner-designed LiveWell program and converted its on-site clinic to a Cerner-managed primary and occupational care center, added a wellness portal, health coaching and a points-based incentive plan (including a 50% premium reduction for completing key activities). Within two years, 77% of participants improved or maintained health risk status, 98% completed coaching, 52% named the on-site clinic as their PCP, more than 93% of full-time staff participated, and the city saw a $1.29 return for every $1 spent.
