A Cerner Case Study

Preview of the Bryan Medical Center Case Study

Central scheduling office saves money and time while scheduling fair work shifts

Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska faced the common hospital challenge of meeting shifting patient needs while ensuring the right personnel were scheduled fairly and efficiently across units. Producing accurate, unbiased schedules and managing absences and extra shifts was time-consuming for nurse managers and made staffing decisions difficult.

To address this, Bryan created a central staffing office using Cerner Clairvia™ Staff Manager and Demand Manager to project resources and manage schedules across clinical and 11 ancillary departments without adding staff. The system saved time and costs, freed nurse managers from schedule creation, enabled real‑time staffing adjustments, generated monthly staffing reports, and standardized scheduling so leaders could make fair, data-driven decisions.
