A Cerner Case Study
Black & Veatch, a global engineering and construction firm with more than 6,300 U.S. professionals, had a limited workplace health strategy before 2015—fewer than 1% completed the personal health assessment—so the company sought a more personalized way to engage employees and their spouses in wellness.
Starting January 2015, Black & Veatch implemented Cerner WellnessSM—adding health navigation, nurse health coaching, PCP matching, biometric screenings, reporting and a tiered incentive (up to $500) program. By December 2016 participation rose 60% to 3,834 employees, 3,550 professionals were matched to off-site PCPs (an increase of 1,291), participants’ medical and prescription costs were 21% lower than non‑participants, and more than 1,000 coaching sessions were delivered.
