National Energy Technology Laboratory - Customer Case Study

The National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), a U.S. Department of Energy lab focused on applied energy research, needed help solving a large, sparse, structured system of linear equations with broad scientific applications, including weather forecasting, aircraft design, and nuclear power plant modeling. NETL partnered with Cerebras and used its CS-1 system to tackle the challenge.

Cerebras delivered performance that went beyond what CPUs or GPUs could achieve, setting a new benchmark for computational fluid dynamics workloads. The CS-1 ran the workload 200 times faster than the Joule supercomputer, helping NETL advance research in combustion and other fundamental scientific phenomena.
