A Cerebras Case Study
Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) partnered with Cerebras to tackle a major AI challenge in cancer research: building predictive models for drug response to optimize screening and support precision medicine. ANL’s existing GPU clusters were too slow, difficult to program, and constrained researchers’ hyperparameter choices, making it hard to run experiments and iterate on new ideas efficiently.
Cerebras deployed the CS-1 in ANL’s data center, allowing researchers to run their existing TensorFlow models without modification and get systems up within hours instead of weeks or months. With Cerebras, ANL reduced experiment turnaround time by 300X, trained drug response models in hours rather than days or weeks, and was able to test many more model ideas faster, accelerating cancer research progress.
