Poshmark, a social commerce marketplace with over 130 million users, faced a surge in automated account takeover (ATO) attacks using credential stuffing. These malicious bots, which targeted both web and API applications, disrupted the user experience and increased infrastructure costs. Poshmark partnered with Cequence Security to implement its Unified API Protection (UAP) platform to block these automated fraud attacks without relying on disruptive CAPTCHA challenges.

By deploying the Cequence solution, Poshmark gained real-time blocking of malicious bot traffic. This allowed them to eliminate CAPTCHA for most logins, reducing its impact by 99.3%, and improve the overall user experience. Most significantly, Cequence Security helped Poshmark block over 609,000 attempted ATO attacks, preventing an estimated $2.19 million in potential account losses and reducing fraudulent listings.
