A Ceph Case Study
The University of Campinas sought a distributed and replicated filesystem to eliminate single points of failure for data storage, enable seamless operations across multiple servers, and solve the challenges of managing synced data across different hosts without a central master.
After a long search, the user from the university chose Ceph to meet these needs. After several years of testing and contributing to its development, the Ceph filesystem (CephFS) was implemented to store backups, software development trees, and personal data. The solution provided a rock-solid, fault-tolerant system that successfully protected against data loss from multiple server or disk failures, ultimately creating a highly resilient home network.
