Utah Education Telehealth Network - Customer Case Study

The Utah Education and Telehealth Network (UETN) is a statewide platform that links K–12 districts, colleges, libraries and rural healthcare clinics, serving hundreds of thousands of students and staff. UETN’s challenge was delivering reliable, high-bandwidth connectivity across Utah’s vast and geographically diverse terrain to support distance learning, digital resources and telehealth in isolated communities.

Partnering with CenturyLink, UETN deployed a dedicated fiber backbone using the GeoMax DWDM platform to create multiple secure, customizable high-capacity circuits (and qualify for E-rate). The result: more than 1,400 connected sites on a 10 Gbps backbone (with plans for higher capacity), seamless streaming and live conferencing, support for large research and imaging transfers, and markedly improved access and operations for educators, clinics and school services.
