A CenturyLink Case Study
First Southwest Bank, a $250M regional bank with seven branches stretched across 300 miles of rural southern Colorado, faced growing pains as a patchwork, point-to-point network from multiple carriers caused latency and congestion. Slow teller transactions, stalled IT projects, limited product rollout and a failover site too close to the primary data center left the bank constrained and unable to scale.
The bank implemented CenturyLink IQ MPLS to consolidate branches on a high-bandwidth, scalable VPN, raising branch speeds from 1.5 Mbps to 10 Mbps and unifying voice, data and video on one platform. Results included halved teller transaction times, major gains in staff productivity and customer satisfaction, improved IP phone quality, more robust disaster recovery with a distant failover site, and better network visibility and management via CenturyLink’s Control Center.
