Wye Valley NHS Trust cuts 510 tonnes of CO₂ a year with Centrica Business Solutions

Wye Valley NHS Trust, which operates Hereford County Hospital, faced the challenge of decarbonizing its facilities to meet the NHS's ambitious commitment to reach net zero by 2040. To initiate this process, the Trust partnered with Centrica Business Solutions for an integrated energy upgrade project.

Centrica Business Solutions implemented a comprehensive solution that included installing an ambient loop heat network with geothermal boreholes and heat pumps, over 3,000 low-energy LED lights, and a 100 kW-peak rooftop solar array. This first phase of work is set to reduce the site's carbon emissions by 510 tonnes annually. The project, funded by a government grant, forms a crucial foundation for Wye Valley NHS Trust to achieve its long-term net zero goal.
