Case Study: Garryvoe Hotel achieves €130K annual energy savings with Centrica Business Solutions trigeneration solution

Trigeneration solution for four star hotel

Garryvoe Hotel, a four-star hotel in Cork with 84 bedrooms, a conference centre and a health club, needed an energy management solution to handle rising demand while reducing reliance on expensive LPG and improving energy efficiency. Centrica Business Solutions worked with the hotel on a combined heat and power (CHP) and trigeneration approach to support its redevelopment and energy transformation.

Centrica Business Solutions implemented an ENER-G 150 CHP system, along with extra boilers and insulated pipework, to provide efficient on-site power and heat. The result was energy savings of up to €130,000 per year, around 420 tonnes of CO2 reduction annually, and a payback period of about 2.5 years, while also improving supply security and helping Garryvoe Hotel earn a Platinum Award from the Green Hospitality Association of Ireland.
