The Olde House cuts peak grid imports by 50% with Centrica Business Solutions

The Olde House, a holiday site in Cornwall with 30 cottages, faced the challenge of exporting excess solar energy during the day while having to import expensive energy from the grid during peak evening hours. To address this, they partnered with Centrica Business Solutions to participate in a trial of its Local Energy Market (LEM).

Centrica Business Solutions funded and oversaw the installation of six 1MWh energy storage machines connected to the site's existing 250-kilowatt solar array. This solution stores excess solar power for use during peak times. As a result, The Olde House reduced its grid energy imports by 50% during peak hours, significantly cut energy costs, and gained the ability to generate revenue by providing flexible services to the grid.
