St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust saves £15 million in energy costs with Centrica Business Solutions

St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust faced the challenge of an ageing and inefficient 40-year-old energy centre that was incapable of meeting new environmental targets. The Trust partnered with Centrica Business Solutions to create a new long-term energy strategy.

Centrica Business Solutions implemented a 15-year Energy Performance Contract, which included installing a new energy centre with two CHP units and four boilers alongside other site-wide efficiency schemes. The solution guarantees annual savings of £1 million and a reduction of 6,000 tonnes of carbon emissions, allowing the Trust to reinvest valuable resources into patient care.
