London Borough of Southwark, a local authority in a tight urban area, needed a cost-effective way to add solar PV to a large but restrictive building roof while preserving the building’s integrity, warranties, and compliance. Centrica Business Solutions was chosen to help design and deliver a solar photovoltaic (PV) solution tailored to the roof structure and operational constraints.

Centrica Business Solutions worked with Southwark, Veolia, and the main contractor to install a large-scale, optimised solar PV system using module-level monitoring and inverter technology to handle the roof’s varying light and pitch conditions. The project delivered a 750 kW peak output and an annual CO2 reduction of 337 tonnes, including 256 tonnes in Phase 1, while providing detailed performance data at module level.
