City of Bridgeport powers key buildings with 100% grid redundancy using Centrica Business Solutions

The City of Bridgeport needed a microgrid solution that would provide 100% grid redundancy at no cost to the city, while also saving on long-term energy expenses and reducing its environmental impact. Centrica Business Solutions was selected to help deliver this solution utilizing Combined Heat and Power (CHP) units.

Centrica Business Solutions, along with several partners, implemented a cogeneration system featuring three CHP units and a standby generator. This microgrid now provides continuous power to key municipal buildings, utilizing engine heat loss for heating and cooling. The project was delivered at no cost to the city and achieves estimated annual energy savings of 85,554 MMBtu.
