CHP meets future energy needs for Cork hotel

Rochestown Park Hotel in Douglas, Cork needed to meet significantly higher energy demands after expanding its property with 50 new bedrooms, a new bar, a restaurant, and a larger reception area. To address this challenge, the hotel worked with Centrica Business Solutions to review and upgrade its combined heat and power (CHP) system.

Centrica Business Solutions, with partner Temp Technology, installed a natural gas trigeneration solution using CHP and an absorption chiller to generate electricity, heat, and cooling on site. The project delivered estimated annual energy savings of about €115,000, a payback period of around two years, and a 33% reduction in emissions equal to 278 tonnes of CO2 per year, while also improving energy resilience during grid outages.
