Centrica Energy Assets boosts UK clean energy with Centrica Business Solutions' 18MW solar farm

Centrica Energy Assets, a significant energy company managing a large portfolio of assets, had an ambitious plan to help decarbonize the UK's electricity grid by creating 1GW of new flexible energy assets. To meet this goal and support the transition to Net Zero, they partnered with Centrica Business Solutions to develop their first UK solar farm.

Centrica Business Solutions developed, constructed, and now operates the 18MW Codford Solar Farm, which produces 19GWh of green electricity annually. This output is enough to power the equivalent of 5,000 homes. Under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement, half of the electricity is sold to Vodafone, providing a secure revenue stream, while the other half is sold to the National Grid. The project also included significant biodiversity improvements to the site, enhancing its environmental value.
