Boston Scientific reduces CO2 by 1,850 tonnes with Centrica Business Solutions

Boston Scientific, a leading innovator of medical solutions, faced the challenge of managing energy for its significantly expanded 35,000 square meter plant in Galway. Centrica Business Solutions addressed this challenge by designing and installing a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) solution.

The solution implemented by Centrica Business Solutions involved the installation of two 1.2 MW CHP units, the second of which was part of a trigeneration system that also provided chilled water. This resulted in the annual generation of 15,900 MWh of electricity and utilization of 12,000 MWh of heat. The project successfully saved costs and reduced the customer's carbon emissions by 1,850 tonnes of CO2 annually.
