Sieben Energy Associates partnered with Centrica Business Solutions to help The Franklin, a 2.48 million square foot office property in Chicago, uncover hidden energy waste. The management and engineering team needed better visibility into heating energy use, especially across hundreds of fan-powered boxes in tenant-occupied areas, after the building’s annual energy use had climbed above 40 million kWh.

Using Centrica Business Solutions’ Panoramic Power energy insights solution and monitoring-based commissioning, the team established energy dashboards and identified wasted heating during unoccupied hours and simultaneous heating and cooling in summer. Centrica Business Solutions helped Sieben Energy Associates reduce annual energy use by more than 3 million kWh, cut historical consumption by over 7%, generate about £167k in savings, and achieve a payback in less than six months.
