Alton Towers Resort - Customer Case Study

Alton Towers Resort, the largest theme park in the UK, faced a major energy challenge across its 550-acre site, which includes hotels, a conference centre, and Europe’s largest waterpark. With high power and heating demands, the resort needed a way to reduce energy costs, improve sustainability, and future-proof energy pricing. Centrica Business Solutions provided a combined heat and power (CHP) solution.

Centrica Business Solutions installed an 850kW CHP unit, along with variable speed drives and cloud-based monitoring, to generate power on site and reduce transmission loss. The result was an estimated 12% annual energy saving and around 80% energy efficiency, helping Alton Towers Resort cut carbon levy exposure and protect future energy costs.
