Affinity Water powers 16% of site energy use with 1MWp solar from Centrica Business Solutions

Affinity Water, the UK's largest water-only supplier, faced the challenge of reducing its operational carbon emissions, a significant portion of which came from the energy-intensive process of treating and distributing water. To help meet its net zero targets, the company partnered with Centrica Business Solutions to implement a solar power solution.

Centrica Business Solutions installed 1,820 solar panels at Affinity Water's Chertsey treatment works, creating a 1MWp solar installation. This system now generates 16% of the plant's power needs and reduces carbon emissions by 188 tonnes per year. The project's success has led Affinity Water to plan a wider rollout of solar technology across its operations.
