The customer, one of Europe's largest bakery plants, placed a great emphasis on sustainability and wanted to ensure its new UK facility operated in the most energy efficient manner possible. To meet this challenge, it worked with Centrica Business Solutions to implement a solution centered around a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) unit.

Centrica Business Solutions installed a new 1MWe CHP unit and provided a ten-year maintenance contract. This solution significantly reduced the bakery's energy costs by approximately £400,000 per year and cut its carbon emissions by 1,000 tonnes annually. The project was so successful that the bakery plans to work with Centrica Business Solutions on similar projects at four other sites.
