A Centric Software Case Study
Uniek, founded in 1988 in Madison, Wisconsin, grew from a photo-frame supplier into a major designer, manufacturer and importer of home decor serving retailers like Walmart, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and Wayfair. As the consumer goods market accelerated—more SKUs, shorter lifecycles and tighter margins—Uniek was hampered by disconnected systems (Access and Excel), an inflexible database built for a single category, and the need to broaden product lines without adding headcount.
To address this, Uniek implemented Centric PLM and went live in six months using an Agile deployment approach. Centralizing specifications, quotes and supplier data cut new product setup from one week to two days, increased SKU variety by 50%, enabled non‑IT users to add new categories, streamlined vendor selection and compliance processes, and supported the launch of a direct-to-consumer online channel and improved content delivery to retail partners.
