A Centreon Case Study

Preview of the Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Case Study

Manchester University NHS Trust Foundation relies on Centreon for optimal IT health across multiple hospital sites

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), one of the UK’s largest hospital trusts, needed a reliable way to unify IT monitoring across multiple hospital sites after a series of mergers left it with overlapping tools and rising maintenance costs. To support patient care, MFT chose Centreon, using a mix of open source and licensed Centreon platforms to monitor around 2,000 hosts and 25,000 services across its server environments and datacentres.

Centreon Business Edition helped MFT replace resource-heavy legacy monitoring, reduce tool sprawl, and standardize practices across teams. With Centreon, the trust gained lightweight monitoring, better visibility into issues like disk space and storage components, faster setup through templates and Auto-Discovery, and flexible custom checks and integrations such as Microsoft Teams; the result was a more reliable IT environment supporting 750,000 patients and 28,000 employees, while allowing MFT to better control and plan monitoring costs.
